Delaware River protected from drilling — for now.

After we helped to deliver more than 30,000 public comments, a little-known agency called the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) chose to delay a proposal that would open up our Delaware River—and the drinking water supply for more than 15 million people—to harmful gas drilling.

Result

EPA to limit air pollution from gas drilling.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently held hearings nationwide, including in Pittsburgh, on newly proposed regulations that would drastically cut down on air pollution from gas and oil sites across the country. With hundreds of Pennsylvanians turning out to show their support for clean air regulations, and thousands more sending public comments, we should see these regulations in place by the spring of 2012.

Hundreds of our members and other concerned citizens flooded the Statehouse during our Lobby Day in 2011, meeting with more than 150 legislators about the need to protect our environment from Marcellus Shale gas drilling and joining our advocate Erika Staaf, [center], at a rally in the Statehouse.
