Energy bills moving in Harrisburg
As gas prices and global warming continued making headlines in recent months, state politicians convened a special legislative session in Harrisburg to consider a wide range of energy proposals. If passed, several bills being considered could fundamentally improve the way we produce and use energy in Pennsylvania.
PennEnvironment has been building support for several of these bills, most notably House Bill 2200, which would establish statewide energy-efficiency programs, resulting in 7.4 million fewer tons of global warming pollution being created in Pennsylvania—the equivalent of removing over 1.3 million cars from the road for a year.
PennEnvironment is also working to pass legislation (Special Session House Bill 1) that would enact the largest increase in funding for clean, renewable energy sources in Pennsylvania history.
