Repower Pennsylvania

From smog-emitting coal-fired power plants to dangerous Marcellus Shale drilling to the toxic threat of nuclear power, the ways that we produce and use energy in Pennsylvania have a severe impact on our environment and health. PennEnvironment is working toward a new energy future that promotes clean, renewable energy and uses efficient technologies to help protect the planet.

Program

Protect Our State Parks and Forests

Our state parks and forests are some of the most extensive in the country, a symbol of our commitment to preserve Pennsylvania’s natural heritage for generations to come. Sadly, these great places face many threats, from drilling to budget cuts.

Program

Protect Our Rivers and Streams

Reckless pollution and overdevelopment threaten our beloved streams and rivers, from Neshaminy Creek and the Wissahickon to Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers. Now Growing Greener, the program that protects our waterways, is about to expire. We’re urging the Legislature to renew the program before it’s too late.

Program

Protect Our Open Spaces

From the Poconos, to the family farms in Lancaster County, to the historic sites of Valley Forge and Gettysburg, we’ve seen too many of our beloved landscapes lost to encroaching development. PennEnvironment is working to protect the places that make Pennsylvania great — now and forever.

Program

Keep Pennsylvania Safe From Drilling

Powerful gas industry lobbyists and their allies in Harrisburg are pushing through policies that would expose our environment and communities to the dangers of Marcellus Shale gas drilling. But they've got a fight on their hands — thousands of Pennsylvanians are joining our call to help stop gas drilling from contaminating our drinking water, polluting our air, destroying our forests and threatening our health.

Program

Global Warming Solutions

Global warming is the most pressing environmental problem facing the planet today — and Pennsylvania ranks third in the nation for global warming pollution. PennEnvironment is working aggressively to promote commonsense solutions to this profound challenge.

Program

Clean Air, Healthy Families

New EPA clean air standards will cut mercury pollution by 90% and save 46,000 lives each year. The coal industry and their friends in Congress are trying to roll back these standards, but we’re urging Congress to let the EPA do its job and move forward with its commonsense plan to protect public health.
