Two state legislators from the Philadelphia delegation received
kudos yesterday from a statewide environmental advocacy group for
helping to cut down on the state’s carbon footprint.
PennEnvironment named state Reps. Babette Josephs and James
Roebuck among 15 state legislators who received perfect scores of 100.
The group’s scorecard is part of its campaign to encourage lawmakers to
reduce global warming emissions in the commonwealth.
“In order to protect and preserve Pennsylvania’s environment, we
need our elected officials voting for the strongest environmental
protections possible,” PennEnvironment Director David Masur said in a
statement.
Environmental awareness has become a mainstream issue across the
state and the nation in recent years as government has tried to create
cutting-edge, green initiatives and a green work force.
PennEnvironment rated lawmakers based on voting on several
issues, including funding of conservation programs, promoting energy
efficiency and renewable energy, protecting Pennsylvania’s open spaces,
and funding public transportation systems.
