I'm a handyman with many skills, so I'm not waiting for my elected
officials to solve global warming. I've figured out that insulation, to
the max, is the main thing most homeowners can do to reduce their
energy needs. Pennsylvania gets $258 million in help to weatherize
buildings from the stimulus package.
I know this seems a bit
abstract in the current financial crisis, but actually global warming
is a bigger problem for our long-term future than even the Great
Recession.
To really make things happen we've got to support legislators that get this.
PennEnvironment's
Repower America Report says half our energy needs are used in
buildings. It's time for codes that make us build smarter and retrofit
older buildings.
I'm supporting legislators that understand
this. Because next time energy prices go up, even those with good
mortgages might not be able to run their homes.
