In February 2007, Gov. Ed Rendell said that within three months he would release a new plan on how this state would address the growing threat of global warming. More than 16 months later, environmentalists are still waiting for Rendell to unveil that plan.

For most of his first term, the president refused to acknowledge that human activity might be causing climate change. Finally, Thursday, with nine months left in his presidency, Bush announced a plan to limit greenhouse-gas emissions. Not only does the plan come late, but experts say its goals would not be enough to stop global warming from hurting the planet.

Dalton is among three out of four Pennsylvanians who believe the planet's climate is changing, it's at least ''somewhat'' of a serious problem and we're partly to blame with our reliance on gas-guzzling vehicles and fossil fuels. Those heavy downpours that prompt flash-flood warnings and form lakes on Cameron Street in Harrisburg are increasing in number, a study released Tuesday by an environmental group found. The findings bear out predictions by climatologists who say global warming could lead to an increase in heavy storms, the study's authors said.
