Dear Editor:
In 2004, Pennsylvania produced more global warming pollution than every state except for California and Texas. With the Energy Information Administration projecting a 46 percent increase in U.S. global warming pollution over the next 20 years, it is clear that a change needs to be made, especially in Pennsylvania.
This past February the state House of Representatives passed House Bill 2200 which will cut statewide energy use by 2.5 percent over the next five years. This will result in Pennsylvania producing 7.4 million fewer tons of pollution, which is the equivalent of taking 1.3 million cars of the road.
PennEnvironment urges the state Senate and Gov. Rendell to sign House Bill 2200 and to push to achieve these goals that will reduce Pennsylvania's production of global warming pollution.
