As our nation finds
itself in the midst of an energy and environmental crisis, Sen. Arlen
Specter is thus far refusing to be part of the solution. On June 10,
Specter voted yet again against the extension of critical clean energy
incentives.
If these expire, the environmental group
PennEnvironment estimates that $19 billion in clean energy projects
will be canceled, and America would lose more than 116,000 clean-energy
jobs.
Pennsylvanians know we need those jobs and
we need newer, cleaner, more affordable energy solutions that break our
dependence on Mideast oil. Extending this crucial funding will
stimulate our economy, protect our environment, and safeguard our
national security. We all should urge Sen. Specter to do the right
thing for Pennsylvania and start voting the right way on these energy
bills.
